Ai Sound Design Electronic Sound Painting

 Ad Infinitum

Ad Infinitum began as a four panel Serge Modular built in 1998 and over the coarse of 15 years has evolved into a 25 panel system, making it one of the largest and most sophisticated electronic music instruments in the world.  Ai is more than a "sound engine" or keyboard, it is a compositional environment designed to create new musical processes and results.  The foundation of the system is an elaborate analog computer system comprised of sequencers, sub-sequencers and a host of time-based function modules and control voltage networks that set musical activities into motion.  Ai contains three limited edition panels designed by Sound Transform Systems.  Two TEVS (Touch Envelope Voltage Sources) and the Quad-Locator panel: a four input quadraphonic mixer with CV processing; internally wired like a 1960's recording console.  Along with the Locator panel Ai contains two audio matrix mixers and two four-input stereo mixers allowing for kaleidoscopic mixing effects in quadrophonic space.  Click here for current system layout.

As was said by one young composer: "It would take a thousand years to exhaust all the possibilities."  With that in mind Ad Infinitum may very well be, truly, without limit.
